And so THAT is your problem, non the lack of an internship.
No programme, and misinformation.

You may need more schooling, once yous figure out what you WANT to do with your life.

Hate to say this, but you lot were told a crock full of lies. Jobs desire a specific skill set these days and could intendance less about your degree. You're no ameliorate off than someone with a HS diploma. I would take anything you can get. You might try a temp agency, call centre, or working at a FedEx Role or UPS Store. At least these low paying jobs might requite you bodily skills and build upwardly your resume.

In the meantime, I would consider working on IT certs or something to build your skill set.

Jobs that crave any BS degree are few and far between unfortunately.

I'chiliad not blaming you - at 18, how much do any of us know? Nonetheless, this is a line of crap that we've been fed past out of touch and obsolete high school academic counselors, professors who have a vested involvement in keeping their departments open, and universities that take a vested interested in collecting your money.

Did you even get interviews for whatsoever of those jobs? If and so, that'due south a proficient sign. I say keep trying, and in the meantime take any task you can become. If you focus too much on "real" jobs - i.e. office jobs - yous might miss out on opportunities that could also lead to something. I think correct now you demand to simply looking for anything. Don't know where you alive, simply you might consider government work and nonprofit/charity work (which pays horribly, just is at least experience). You tin can go into any field - that much true - but not because y'all are qualified for any field but rather because you have equally nonexistent qualifications for all of them. Don't make the mistake of going to grad school thinking that will go y'all a job, because that'south yet another myth.

If part temp work is available in your surface area, that would exist an fantabulous place to start.

I had one interview with a college museum for an administrative assistant position, simply information technology was clear throughout the interview that they wanted someone with function experience. =/

I've just interviewed for a role-time position at Petco, which isn't that neat, but at least it's money?

Yeah, this I'm actually well enlightened of! I have no intention of going to grad school.

You mean like go through staffing agencies for temp piece of work? That would give me the needed part experience, I suppose.

Yes, exactly. This is a GREAT fashion to observe work and become experience. While temping I worked in a dozen unlike industries and actually had several opportunities to apply for permanent jobs. I met people from all over and could have easily used those contacts to help me get other jobs and to provide references, fifty-fifty if I couldn't work exactly where I temped (due to contractual rules). There is also temp-perm, although that is not the preferable route if you can help it (you go paid less). The rule for temp piece of work is that at first you go the worst assignments, only you accept to take every one of them and do your very best, and then y'all really start getting meliorate, longer assignments. This would be better experience than Petco.
